  • Trapcode Particular Layers Not Exporting?

Posted by Colin Peterson on August 20, 2013 at 3:11 pm

    Hey folks,
I have an odd problem. When I export, my trapcode particular layers will not export along with the other layers–AE simply renders the composition without those layers, as if the other items on the screen were on a black background. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, none of the layers are soloed. I’ve even copied the layers into a new comp and tried to render the comp out from there–no luck.

I have no idea what is going wrong, check out a screenshot below:

As background potentialities, but I don’t know if it would be a problem. I was playing with Track Mattes for a while, but those have all been reset to normal. But the Emitter layers had the eye symbol without the pupil–I don’t know what that means.

Do I need to rebuild this? I really don’t want to. lol. Hope its just an oversight on my part.

    Thanks for any insight.

Your emitter layers are set as guide layers [link].

Note the cyan icon next to it in the timeline. Guide layers are visible in the comp viewer, but do not render or appear in precomps. You can toggle whether a layer is a guide layer or not via the Layer menu or via right-click.

Sorry, I have no idea what that means, could you further explain how to turn that off?–the site you linked doesn’t have “keen live” listed. Its not you, its me–I know just enough to get myself in trouble.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Sorry, I typo’ed while inserting the link and broke the post. I’ve updated it and it’s all correct now.

No, it was my bad — I accidentally typed over one of the closing tags when I made the link, so the link spread all the way into my COW signature. Sorry for the confusion, but if you right-click your two mystery layers and uncheck “Guide Layer” all will be well with your comp again.
