Hi guys, I’m creating a scene were I have some custom particles all set to loop randomly which are flowing down a pipe, I’ve created it all and set the particles to stick when they reach a blockage – which is all working (almost) nicely! I’m still learning and perfecting the generator but one problem I don’t seem to be able to find is:

When the particles hit the “floor” and stick, is there a way to then make them stop looping?

The particle is of a spinning ball .mov and it works great when the ball is falling down the pipe but I want the blockage to stop it dead….I can stop the particle physically but the .mov keeps playing on the spot…giving the particle the appearance of still spinning but not moving….

    Does this make sense?

    Thanks guys!

I doubt Particular can do this. However, Particle Playground is able to do this cos’ you can control a layer’s time structure with a Property Mapper.

Sometimes, replicating a single instance is still the best option.

My only thought is that you may be able to use the Aux System so that when it hits the floor, you produce a new particle that is a still version. I don’t think it will work for you project since it sounds like there is too much randomness and such, but may be worth exploring…?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I’ll explore both options now, yesterday I settled for creating a secondary particle system which was just “random still frames” which I rotated within particular, it kind of worked but not as well as the original.

Thanks again for the feedback on this.
