I don’t know how to describe this too well but….
One of the new features of PPRO 2 was a “clear” video track the could be placed on top of all the other clips and then you could add effects to that particular track that would apply to all the clips under it. (similar to the old “adjustment layer” that was in after effects)
It Doesn’t seem to work…All the effects I put on the track don’t show up!
(I have a Matrox RTX 100 card installed)
Anyone know if this is an adobe problem or something caused by the Matrox side of the house? (does it work if you don’t have the RTX card installed?) I tried not using a matrox project , just a standard NTSC premiere project and the effects don’t work in either type project. Don’t know if removing the matrox card and drivers would suddenly make it start working….haven’t tried that yet. Anyone else having problems with this “Transparent” video? (With or without a RTX100 card)
    Any Help?

The transparent clip is not good for every effect and it does NOT function as an adjustment layer.

It IS good for effects like the timecode window and lens flares. There are several others but I haven’t bothered figure out which they are.

I found out in Adobe forums that the “transparent video” layer ist not like the adjustment laer in AE. FX have no effect to underlying layers. The info from here and the Adobe help is simply wrong.

I finally found the place where I saw the reference to this
This is another addition to version 2 and certainly an excellent one as well. In Premiere Pro 2.0, you can create a transparent video layer, which can be used for applying effects to a bunch of clips without having to repetitively copy and paste attributes. Just apply an effect to the transparent video track and the results from the effect will automatically be apparent on all other underlying tracks.

    Iguess it’s a little misleading
