  • Transparent background on sunglasses?

Hey all. In the well known Andrew Kramer video tutorial on making a Demon Face with After Effects, he also adds sunglasses to the guy.

I’ve tried this, by making what I thought was a transparent background in Adobe Photoshop (when I pasted the closely-outlined sunglasses into a new project, I made the background ‘transparent’), yet when I try to copy them or import that file into After Effects, the white rectangular background still shows up behind the sunglasses, so I can’t impose them over a face on AE. How do I make legitimately transparent backgrounds for imposing things in AE?

Thanks in advance for any help.
