I’ve rendered out a sequence to a TIFF sequence with an straight alpha channel. The end of the sequence is a transition so I can use the rendered movie as a top layer and transition to a new movie underneath.

But when I rendered, even though the background color is black the transparency grid is showing up as part of the rendered out movie.

How do I get rid of it (if at all possible – I’d hate to render the thing again for another 4 hours.)

Sounds strange. It’s not possible to render the transparency grid as part of a render. Can you show us an example of what you are seeing. Keep in mind that even though the background may be black (or any color in AE) it is still inherently transparent. You’d need to put a (black) solid as your background to not have transparency in the final render, or render without an alpha channel.

Thanks John. Indeed the transparency grid did not end up in the final render. It must have been my eyes playing tricks on me late at night.

But I was surprised to find some of my white areas where I used lights or shine or Lux actually had some transparency to them even though their opacity was at 100% I discovered this by checking the alpha channel.
