Is there a way to set the default color for areas of alpha in a comp? Let’s say I’ve got lots of elements moving around, and now and then I get a peek through to the background, where there’s no overlap. I’d like that area to be, say, white, or in this case, off-white. I’ve tried creating a colored solid back there, but I’m working on comps within comps, with many 3d layers, so I can’t ever be sure the added solid will always fill the frame. Better if I knew that a little hole won’t result in a black shape, but something less glaring.

composition>background color will allow you to set the background color to something other than black. that color will then be the color that will show through in transparent areas.

i think that this setting is set per comp (rather than per project), so you may need to go into each comp that you will render (nested comps will take the color of the rendered comp) and set it to the color you need. new comps will take on the background color of the last comp.
