transparant shapes
I want to recreate these shapes in illustrator. But I can not get it working.
I tried transparency and different overlay settings.
Any help would be appreciated!

you need to work with additive blending modes, such as add or screen, avoid blending modes like multiply or overlay which will darken the center figure, you could also trace each shape separately and use a pathfinder effect to break them up and then color each one with the hue/brightness needed.
