Transitions Choppy Still!
I posted a few months ago about simple transitions between two video clips being very choppy.
At the time, I had an Acer laptop with a Core i5 and 4GB of RAM.
Well, long story short, last August my house was burglarized and my beloved laptop was taken.
So, since then, I got another Acer laptop with a Core i7 and 8GB of RAM. I thought editing in Vegas Pro 11 would be smoother and I would be able to view simple transitions in the Preview window.
Why would they still be choppy? This is irritating. I wouldn’t think that a simple crossfade would take up that much CPU power or RAM, or does it?

No it doesn’t.
What kind of footage do you have on your timeline?
Do you have any FX applied to it? -
The file is a small .WMV file.
I do not have any FX applied. I only have two small clips (actually it’s one clip that I’ve split), and I take the clip on the right and overlap it a bit over the clip on the left to create a crossfade.

WMV is a compressed delivery type format, not really suitable for editing. If the WMV files are SD, 720×480, try converting them to DV AVI and see if that helps.
