In Videowave 7, I simply drag and drop the clips, drag and drop a transition and choose the duration. Then I select ‘apply to all’. How do you do this in Vegas 8 Pro?

Go to Options – Preferences to the editing tab. Make sure the option to automatically crossfade is turned on and set the “cut to overlap conversion” to the length you want your dissolves.

Now select all of the clips you want and drag them to the timeline. Once on the timeline, they will be automatically crossfaded for that length of time.

Now select them all on the timeline (a quick way is to right-click the first one and choose “select events to end”). Drag whatever transition you want used instead of a crossfade onto one of the crossfades and they’ll all change.

Another EASY way to do this would be to use a script that will adjust the crossfade lengths and change them to any transition as desired (or even a “random” transition selected from a group of transitions YOU picked).

Thank you.. This works perfectly. Why couldn’t the help file be as clear? Where can I learn more about scripting?

Look through my newsletters and the scripting section on my site (link under my name).
