transition shutter/ red clips
Posted by David Aman on July 16, 2008 at 5:20 pmHello all,
I’ve gleened alota knowlege from this post. Thanks!
I have one project that shutters between clips on crossover transitions (when rendered). and if I’m working on it for more than 5 minutes all the clips turn red and black out in the preview window. This is the only project this has ever happened with – is it corrupted?Danny Hays replied 17 years, 10 months ago 4 Members · 7 Replies -

July 16, 2008 at 7:15 pmI have had this problem with MPG HDV files captured with Premier Pro or OnLocation which both can capture as mpg instead of m2t. What fromat and capture application are you using? Danny Hays

July 16, 2008 at 7:23 pmThat sounds like the files are corrupted…try restarting the
computer and see, or if those media uses a codec you can install, try reinstalling the codec.

July 16, 2008 at 8:07 pmAm assuming that these are video clips and not stills, but, very large stills that Vegas can’t handle can do this.

July 16, 2008 at 10:44 pmThanks for the feedback! i captured it with HD Connect a few years back – it really seems like it’s corrupted, but there’s that sweet spot when i think everything’s fine (i guess i just really want it to be fine). I originally edited it with V6 and then crossed it over to V8, but i did that with all my work and this is the only one that’s acting funny. Thanks all for the input. I’ll try to forget about it for a few days and see if there are any other ideas… then the re-capture/edit.

July 17, 2008 at 12:57 amThats Cineforms old HDV capture program. What kind of file is it? Connect HD will capture and convert to Cineform AVI if you directed it to. Cineform AVI is very Vegas friendly. Download Gspot, a free utility that will tell you the file type of almost any video. If you can re-capture it, that is probably your best bet though. The red frames in the time line tells me it’s probably mpg instead of m2t. Let us know what file type the videos are with Gspot. Danny Hays

July 18, 2008 at 7:01 pmYes, That the only time I ‘ve seen the red problem is with MPG files. If you still have Connect HD, you can convert them to Cineform AVI format with it. Vegas will have no problems with that type of file. In fact it will edit them smoother, more effecient than with m2t or mpg as they’rehighly compressed and Vegas has to work alot harder with them than AVI. That’s what Cineform was originally designed for, when computers were slower and couldn’t handle the compressed files yet. Danny Hays
