When I come out of most transitions (between still images), the image that I’m wiping/dissolving/whatever to appears to jump slightly. There’s no actual motion when you scrub slowly through, but when you play back there almost appears to be a jump cut between the part of the image that’s in motion in the dissolve and the still part of the image not touched by the dissolve. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Someone suggested I might be rendering at too high a bitrate, but I’m at 8 bit YUV.

I have a lot of problems with glitchy playback on this computer; is it something in my settings? Any speed modification or clips put in reverse tend to be jumpy, and sometimes motion with no effects applied whatsoever just appears glitchy, across basic camera pans and such. It’s all such simple stuff that I can’t find any settings to tweak. Hopefully I’m missing something, because it’s really frustrating and costs me a lot of time. I’ve got FCP 6 on Mac OS X v.10.4.11.
