I noticed a problem Vegas Pro 13 lately when using 3rd party transitions. In this case Boris BCC9. The transitions look great in preview auto mode, but come up short and abrupt when rendered in Sony AVC Internet 1080p. Has anyone noticed a similar problem or dealt with this issue? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I will try and experiment with other render settings.

I see it all the time. Preview Auto is just a rough estimation of what your video will look like. You should occasionally switch to Good (Full) to see what they will look like when rendered and adjust them accordingly.

Thanks John. I should know better at this point. I have been away from it for awhile and jumped to conclusions without taking the time to think about what was happening.

Well what you don’t realize is that Vegas Pro has some very strange behavior with regard to it’s plug-in API. It does not let plug-ins know what the project dimensions are. That means, if you set your preview to Best (Half), the plug-ins will think that your project is only using half the resolution that it really is because the size of the frame that it’s given is all it has to work with. It’s very important to make sure that when using any plug-in that requires precise positioning, that you use Best (Full) so that the plug-in gets the correct information from Vegas Pro to work with.

John, I think we covered this before in dealing with a Boris Red issue that exhibited the same behavior when not using the Best (full) option in preview. Great explanation, as usual.

Yup, we did… same reason. 😉
