Transferring PPro projects…
Dear all,
I’m having a slight issue when migrating my project from one computer to another.
I’ve been working with Premiere Pro CS4 on my iMac, and now have to migrate that project to my work computer, which has PPro CS5. I’ve moved the original AVCHD footage files I’ve been working on from my iMac to my new computer, along with the PPro project file.
What happens when I open the project file, is that it asks me the location of certain footage files. I enter the corresponding location, but when I open the project, it doesn’t seem to load the footage files correctly. Most of the sequences I made are only showing one footage clip, rather than a collection of clips.
I notice though, that while PPro is running, there is a progress bar at the lower right that says ‘Conforming …’; does that mean it’s processing the footage on my new computer, and I’ll have to wait until it’s done for my project to display correctly?

Dear all,
I think I’ve found the problem is that Premiere reads some of my AVCHD files (in .MTS format) as joined files.
For example, when I shot footage for 3 hours, the camera I used automatically saved the footage into 4~5 different files, each having a 2.12 GB limit. When I look in the file directory, these are separate files, named 0001.MTS, 0002.MTS, 0003.MTS etc.
But when I import the files into PPro, only 0001.MTS shows up as a continuous clip that incorporates 0002.MTS and 0003.MTS etc. This wasn’t how I edited the files on my home iMac, and I’m having trouble teasing the clips apart.
Anyone else run into this problem before? I’d be most grateful if you could share your solution…

You might want to try Premiere Pro’s Project Manager to Move the project?
I don’t know what version of Premiere Pro it showed up; I’m running 5 here…just make sure you dont’ tell it to trim or exclude unused clips.

Thanks for the reply. I took a look at the Project Manager export option, might just try that out.
I’m beginning to see what the problem is: At home I was using PPro CS4, and in the media browser, on the right column with the ‘View As’ set to AVCHD, CS4 displays all the separate clips, as I’ve organized them in the folder structure.
In CS5, instead it only displays a few clips, with some clips that include subsequent clips (e.g. 0002.MTS is one long clip that includes 0003.MTS and 0004.MTS, instead of three separate clips). The in/out points I set in CS4 are therefore inaccurate.
I wonder if there’s a way to have CS5 display separate clips, without joining them together…
Thanks again for your suggestion though, I’ll try it out once I remember to take my external HD back home…unlike today…
