Transferring MXF files WITHOUT A BIN SEQUENCE FILE
Does anyone know if there is a way to locate MXF files on your drive without having the original bin or sequence that points to them?
A client sent me a bunch of MXF files (DNXHD 220) but didn’t include the bin file or even a sequence. Normally I’d copy them onto the hard drive then copy the bin into my project and let the Avid scan for them. Any ideas on how to get around this? (If there is a way)

Copy them into a new numbered folder in your Avid MediaFiles>MXF folders (make a folder named “5” or something, put them in there). Then use the MEDIA TOOL to find them.
OR…
Wait until the Avid scans the drive, then drag the media database into an empty bin. BAM…it populates with the footage in that folder. That’s my favorite way.
