  • Transferring FCP video to Mini DV??

Posted by Kamal Bayy on October 22, 2009 at 11:14 pm

Im using an HVX-200 and i purchased the Mini DV HD tape , and i have the final video done in FCP. Is there a way to transfer the video straight from fcp onto the mini dv using the panasonic camera?? Video resolution doesn’t matter, but i would preferably rather HD.

    FCP 6

DV tape is SD…so you cannot output HD to that tape. What you need to do is export your final sequence as a self contained QT file, reimport that, drop it into a DV sequence, RENDER, then output via firewire. The ONLY way you can get DV out to that camera is via firewire, and it MUST be in the DV resolution in order to do that.

If you had a capture card and DV deck, the story would be slightly different…but still not HD. DV is not HD.

Many HDV camera use Mini DV tape, so I’m guessing thats what he means.

With HDV you have to print to tape then let it conform before it will go to tape.
