  • Transferring effects between Avids?

I’m transferring a project from and older Media Composer 10.5 to a newer Express Pro system. Problem is some of the effects aren’t being recognized, such as 3d warp. Is there any way to bring these effects or effect settings/keyframes over to the Xpress Pro, or a trick/work-around without having to redo them with a different effect?

Any effect that exists on the target Avid system will transfer in the timeline. Because you are transfering a sequence from a more capable Avid to a low-end Avid, you will lose 3D Warp, which doesn’t exist on the Xpress software.

This is a problem frequently encountered when going to final conform on a high-end Avid. You need to make sure that all third-party filters used in the off-line are available in the on-line system. Otherwise the effects will need to be rebuilt.

That’s what I had feared. I think we’ll need to transfer to another system at our other location to finish off the project.

    Thanks for the timely response.
