  Transferring data from a mac to hard drive to PC

  I’m starting to give clients raw video footage on external hard drives they give me and am not sure about the PC and Mac compatibility. If I transfer footage on the hard drive from my mac someone with a PC can’t read it correct? Is there way to format it first so that both a mac and PC can read the drive? If not how do editors with macs get around this when giving footage to someone with a PC?
