Transferring compositions and assets
Is it possible to transfer compositions and assets for one AE file to another? If so how? I’ve got Ae CS4 on a Mac Pro.

A combination of Reduce Project and Collect Files will probably do what you want.
You can save a copy of your project, reduce it down to just the compositions you want to transfer, and use Collect Files for that subset.

Oh, and you can import one After Effects project into another.
