  • Transfering QT & Project file Changed Timecode???

    Hi,
I’m having a weird problem. I’ve been transferring my Captured footage and project file together onto different External hard drives and when I open up the project, some of the Media out timecode changes a couple seconds.

The change is usually on the last clip of the captured clips.

I’ve been comparing the two project files and the basically the Out points usually have a couple of seconds on the duplicate footage.

What’s weird is that when I open the clips in the finder, it’ll give me the same accurate length as the duplicate quicktime.

Does this make any sense? Has anyone encountered this problem?
Any suggestions? Is there a setting?

To answer your questions: It makes no sense whatsoever, I have encountered this problem as well, and I am not aware of any settings that would change this.
The suggestion: Ignore it, regard it as a QuickTime thing.

I panicked the first time I got errors reconnecting media because of the changed media duration… but nevertheless, it always worked fine.

I guess it’s sloppy programming from Apple. On Avid, media is media, and if it’s moved and relinked, it’s still the same ol’ media. Not so in Final Cut Pro…

    Hope that helps!

The problem with this timecode issue is because I have to go back to the original tape source to online the project.

    The Quicktime footage is DVCProHD.
    Help?

If only the “media end” value of the QuickTime files changed by a few seconds, then you should be able to batch capture in DVCProHD without problems. If the “out points” of the clips in your sequence changed, then you have to re-edit it before doing the online.
