  • Transfering projects and media to new machine

    Hi
I need to transfer some projects coming up from my set-up (FCP6.0.4 on a 2.8 Ghz Quadcore with AJA Kona running media off a single internal 1TB SATA drive) to:

    1. a similar system without an AJA board (or indeed any capture board), whilst running the media off a portable firewire drive

    and

    2. a new 17″ MacBook Pro 2.5 Ghz running off either the internal drive or an external firewire.

    My question is:

Are there any issues I should consider regarding the fact that the media is captured with the Kona board and the codec is called AJA Kona Apple ProRes? Will the other systems be happy with this, without Kona hardware installed?

Also are there any other issues I should consider about moving my projects onto these machines and running the media off portable Firewire (a 300Gb Maxtor One Touch by the way).

The reason I am doing this is am cutting commercials on my suite at home and need to do client presentations in either a fully serviced post-house or off the MacBook at mutually convenient premises.

Also anyone have any specific tips for exactly how I should transfer media to another system in the safest possible way?
    Thanks in advance
    Rod
