Hello, I work in a place that has four AVID system(HP 8200 computer’s) that are pretty much identical but NOT on a network. I need to tranfer a project that is not complete to another system. I plan on using an external hard drive to do this. What is the best way to do this? The manual says to select each clip and consolidate it. By the way things are labeled in this project it is hard to tell what the master clips are and there is about 10 bins. Can’t I just transfer the entire media and project files without haveing to go through every bin and every clip?

Thanks for any advice or help.

Yes. Google MediaSift and search this forum for MDV. Both are free media moving programs written for Avid so you’re moving only the project you want, not all the media for all projects.

Using either of the programs, copy your media to an external, copy your project files, hook up the external up to your other system and copy the media back off (if you can’t edit from the external). Copy the project file over and Done!

MediaSift work perfectly! That’s exactly what I was looking for.

    Thanks for the info!

Glad to hear it worked. I use MediaSift all the time–it’s been a lifesaver, and is very easy to use. One of these days I’ll check out MDV–it’s supposed to be more powerful.
