  • Transfer multicam clips between FCPX and Premiere?

Posted by Jiri Fiala on October 27, 2022 at 7:53 am

Hi, I have a project with two editors, I prefer FCPX, the other editor uses Premiere. I use Sync-n-link to sync dual audio and multicams, it works great and quick. I use XtoCC to transfer stuff into Premiere BUT it cannot transfer multicam clips at all.

Is there a way to transfer MC clips from FCPX to Premiere? I tried going through Resolve but it didn’t work out.

I know Premiere has sync facilities as well, I just want to work this out if possible. Thanks!

    Hey Jiri,

Syncing Multicam in Premiere Pro works well most of the time.
Depending on quality of source footage and audio(!).

However, FCPX and PPro uses two very different ways of working with the footage, hence why it it difficult to “translate” the XML.

I have not tried it myself but the XtoCC Help doc suggests:
“Multicam clips are flattened/collapsed to the clips from the active angle(s).”

I would have thought that if you have a multicam with an edit that reveals each camera channel, that you might be able to export that, and just extend each individual camera channel inside PPro on individual video tracks.

    Just a thought.
