Transfer modes in AVID ?
Hi there,
I’m pretty new to avid and i’m trying to use “transfer modes” (add, multiply, overlay, etc) but i can’t find them anywhere.
I’ve searched in the forums but i only found some old entries referring to a Profound effect that isn’t available anymore.
I’ve also read about the Boris FX, but they are too expensive.
Does anyone know about a different solution ?

The Boris Continuum Complete (BCC) effects come with Media Composer (unless you have the academic version or you purchased the download only version – it doesn’t come with the 3rd party bundle).
If you have the academic version I believe you can still buy the 3rd party bundle for about $200 – $300 from places like videoguys.com It’s worth it for the BCC filters alone, plus you get Sorenson Squeeze, AvidDVD, Smartsound and AvidFX (BorisRed).
Otherwise, there is no native transfer mode in Avid. It requires a 3rd party plugin.

There used to be a free downloadable plug in called DMN transfer. It allowed transfer mode in Avid.
Dont know if it is still kicking around or not.

It’s great because it’s real-time. Though it stopped working for me on the Mac around v4 I think, and I haven’t tried it for a while on a PC. But you do have in already in BCC Composite as has been mentioned, which is much more powerful.Ra-ey
