    Hey All,

I’m doing short and long documentary work. I transcribe all of my interviews however I have not settled on a best practices work flow. Right now I just play the footage in a media player and simeltaneously transcribe in a word doc, taking the time to add timecode at various points.

Are there better programs or interfaces to do this in? So far I found Premiere CC text analysis too clumsy and tedious. It takes too much time to correct all of the word errors. However I love the fact that the words pretty accurately reflect the time code.

So in short I’m looking for a way to manually transcribe, because I find it faster than correcting errors of an automated transcription, which would match more easily with timecode than my current method.

    Thanks all!

I would hire someone to do it. It’s pretty cheap, around $60.00/ hr of footage on average.

Nah, I find the transcribing a very helpful portion of going through the footage to shape the story, narrative arc, ect… though my fingers do get tired. Maybe I’ll outsource it after doing a few more…

I just found Inq Scribe https://www.inqscribe.com/ and that’s definitely been helpful.

There are some relatively straightforward methods of tying in an accurate transcript to the speech recognition function…

Better all around…here’s the Adobe help section on it…look at the section on reference scripts.

Whom do you recommend for transcription? Does your $60/hr source provide timecode?
