    Hello,

I’m new to Avid and I need advice on Transcoding/Consolidating.

I am done editing a wedding that is about 2 hours long. The footage was imported through AMA linking. It was 3 MiniDV Tapes, 1440x1080i, that was captured through Final Cut Pro 7.

I am not going to back up any of the footage, but I have to either Transcode or Consolidate the footage to export it out of Avid and then bring it into Premiere Pro to add chapters and eventually bring it into Media Encoder and Encore to make a Blu-Ray Disc.

Should I Transcode or Consolidate the footage? Which would be better for what I want to do with the project as I desribed above? What should my “Target Resolution” be?

    Thanks in Advance.

    Mac Pro

    Media Composer 6.5

    10GB RAM

I would duplicate the sequence…Do a video mixdown af DNX 145, replace the video with the mixdown on the duplicate, then export a Same As Souce QuickTime.

Use that as your master file for Blue Ray encoding.
