    Hi everyone.

My project is 1080I 59.94. I need to bring in some SD from digi beta and am wondering what’s best; Should I do a machine to machine up-convert (digi beta to dvcprohd via AJHD1400 deck) then capture, or should I just capture my SD at 1:1, then trans-code to 1080I 59.94?

Second related question: If I do want to trans-code SD media, isn’t it best to capture 1:1?

    Thanks for any advice.

Was it something I said (or didn’t say)?

Just trying to get some info on the best way to use SD footage in my HD project.
Maybe no replies b/c I didn’t mention what kind of Avid I’m working on; It’s an Adrenaline. Or maybe b/c I didn’t mention what resolution; DNxHD 220. Or maybe I’m just an idiot and no one wants to talk to me (boo hoo).

Anyway, I’ll try to sum up my question again. Is it better to capture SD footage at 1:1 and use “transcode” to up-convert to 1080i 59.94 OR should I do a machine to machine upconvert (the DVCPROHD deck I have can do this) then capture? What method produces the best converted image?

I was told that if you do transcode, it doesn’t matter if you capture at 2:1 or 1:1, the image quality will be the same. How can this be?

    Please advise.

Oliver Peters did some research into this and found the Terranex mini to be the best approach. https://www.videography.com/articles/article_14085.shtml

Upconversions through the deck look better to my eye than the Avid software conversions.
