  • Transcoding Main Concept’s Reference and authoring with DVD Studio Pro?

Posted by Bijoyini Chatterjee on October 16, 2012 at 10:57 pm

    Hi,

I am trying to encode a Final Cut Pro 7.0 MOV file in Main Concept’s Reference (1920×1080 30p XDCAM codec) to later author a DVD with Apple’s DVD Studio Pro.

I can’t seem to out the files to the m2v/aac formats that DVD Studio Pro seems to like. Any suggestions? I am doing a lot of low light filming and do not like the encoding that Compressor does. I have tried all the variations of settings in the Inspector and it does not compress as well as Main Concept’s Reference.
But now I can’t seem to use DVD Studio Pro.

    Please help!
    Thanks,

    hey bijoyini,
what are you trying to do?

you would like to encode your video for (SD-)DVD or would you like to encode video for HD-media?

DVD SP could only create HD DVD which is a dead format – died 3-5 years ago. if you would like to create a blu-ray disc you should use toast (with HD-plugin) or adobe encore which could author blu-rays.

compressor 3 which comes with FCP 7 could also create easy blu-rays.

if you would like to create SD DVD you should also use compressor to encode your m2v and ac3.

NTSC DVD is 720×480 – you should create your own preset instead of using the templates.

    cheers
