    Hi All

I have in the past been able to burn a DVD from PPro 2. Today I try and I get ‘Transcoding Error’ immediately that I click on BURN and this happens on Disc, Folder or ISO.

The file is tiny – a few megs and is 1024 x 768. My scratch disc size is 8G. I’ve tried lots of different files and sizes etc and still the same.

I have deleted my DVD burning software and re-installed PP2 (but burning to file shouldn’t be affected by that surely?)

Notably when I click on ‘Settings’ in the first Burn DVD window the whole program crashes, well disappears of screen in an instant!!

I’ve trawlled the web and the Adobe site and nothing found there works. Tried stopping all the ‘start-up’ programs.

Anyone got any ideas please? It is a shame that I can’t get PP2 to do the last part for me, the rest of its features were bloody brilliant. System is XP64 dual core AMD

    Also

When I close PP2 I get a Windows Application Error window? Does that add to the clues?

    Sigh!

1024 X 768 source file is ok if you are in a DV Project Preset, but not OK if you are in a custom desktop project…DVD is SD only.

What is probably killing you is your 64 bit OS, not supported by Adobe for Premiere.

    Hi Mike

    Thanks for your reply.

I am using 32kHz wide screen PAL project – that is the one selected when you first start – Is that what you meant?

I have produced a DVD before with the same settings but ages ago – possibly something has happened.

Adobes own premiere_faq.pdf states Adobe Premiere 2 works on 64 Bit processors but is not optimised.

Using square pixels in a wide screen project might be the issue. Try a Standard DV PAL project.
