After moving to Lion I lost all gestures with the trackpad but found using BetterTouchTool I created ones which work great with X. I quit using a mouse awhile ago and love the tactile reponse of the trackpad. Haven’t tried X with a mouse and am curious of the experiences of other trackpad users.

    Geoff,

What sort of commands or activities are you using the trackpad for.

I’ve been thinking of getting one. At the moment I’m using a tablet and pen together with the keyboard.

The pen is great for certain things but I would be really interested to hear more detail of your experience with the trackpad.

What gestures have you programmed into the pad?

For instance do you us it for scrolling or for colour correction?

I have two finger swipe left and right to scroll left and right on the timeline, three finger up and down to home and end, pinch to zoom, three finger left and right to go previous edit, next edit.

These all functioned well in Fcp7 without BetterTouchTool, but for some reason I haven’t heard anyone have any success with FCPX. I haven’t created any new ones yet but believe some with more brain power than I have will come up with good ones.

    Best,
    Geoff

Pinch to zoom is documented in the FCPX user manual but doesn’t actually work. With any luck they will fix the bugs and expand the trackpad’s usefulness in future releases.

    hi Geoff

Thanks for that info – I might wait until I hear some good feedback of it working with FCP X.
