i’m going to be putting a still image (of a face) onto a moving character’s face…i’m planning on using little track markers on the characters face for position, but is there also a way to have it work for the rotation of the face? for example, if i put one marker on the persons forehead and one on his chin, can i use the two to make some sort of rotation tracking axis so that when his head tilts left or right, these will translate to the still image when applied?

You can track two points using AE’s built in tracker and track for rotation values. This is covered in the AE online help/manual. When you are in the tracker controls chenge “track type” to transform and check the rotation checkbox.
