how do people use multiple track points to apply to a layer.

i have a pan upwards, and want to have my elements move off with the pan. i get to apoint where my main track points go off camera, and then would like to track another point from that frame on, but when i move the search area, i see a new keyframe laid down and it causes my footage to jump by messing up the position or anchor point. my only semi-workaround has been using parented nulls, and i thasnt worked out super well yet. should i keep messing with this, or is there a better way? i.

is there a good article somewhere on this? I also, have heard a lot of people stabilize base layer footage and then invert those points to the above layers position. is there any tutorial online about that also?

    thanks

    This should help:

“When the tracked object becomes obscured so that the feature region can no longer track it, stop the analyzing process. If necessary, back up a few frames, and then move the feature and search regions to the new feature. Leave the attach point in the same location by pressing Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) as you drag the area of the track point between the search and feature regions, or by dragging the edge of the feature region.”

I tried this method but the image still jumps. Should the nexttracker mark be within the region box?
