Tracking not working in CC2014
Posted by Cody Walters on July 16, 2014 at 12:35 pmI’m trying to utilize the new masking and tracking feature and Premiere will hang when I attempt to track forward. Is anyone else having issues? This is on PC, C100 (MTS) footage using any of the standard effects in Premiere.

July 17, 2014 at 1:05 pmHi Kevin. After I have set the effect and mask, I click track forward and Premiere’s tracking progress haults after the first keyframe. I can manually track frame by frame, but can not track forward. Gang to reference monitor is checked.

July 19, 2014 at 2:12 amHi Cody,
I’m seeing this in one other case on the Adobe forums. I will see if I can find a way to replicate the issue.
So you’re using .MTS footage on Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Windows. If you can give me more details, please do.Which version of Windows?
What are your system details (including RAM, CPU and GPU)?
Which camera did the .MTS file originate from?
What kind of masking were you trying to do?
Does it work on other formats?
Does it work in a new project? Thanks,

Used curves to demonstrate the problem. I brought down the mids of the entire image and created a circle mask, feathered to around 50. Then attempted to track the face. The image does not move substantially, but enough movement for the tracker.Does it work on other formats?
Have not attempted this. I will try and report back.Does it work in a new project?
Have not tried yet. I’ll create a new test project.Cody Walters

July 26, 2014 at 8:33 pmIf your Reference Monitor is open, the “Gang to Reference Monitor” selection in your Program Monitor window should be unchecked. You access it from the Monitor options in the upper right corner.
There been a thread about this on Adobe’s Premiere forum for about the last 10 days.

July 31, 2014 at 1:54 pmThank you Patrick. Unchecking gang to program worked, however I am disappointed that this must be unchecked. I use the reference monitor all the time and ganging to the program is a must. I guess I will have to toggle back and forth to use the tracking.
