Tracking moving vehicles
Hi all! Need a bit of advice here. We have a job in which requires a bunch of shots tracking. I’m a little rusty but usually don’t have much problem with simple tracking but this has me foxed. All the shots are aerial footage of trains moving along tracks and we need to add graphics in that follow the trains. You can see one of the shots here: https://vimeo.com/362760791/94dd9efe8b
First I tried simple tracking in AFX but this doesn’t work as the drone/camera is moving and a 2D track quickly looks fake because of the parallax / perspective.
Automatic tracking in C4D just picks up the background which is whizzing past, not the train itself, and trying to manually track the train isn’t giving me enough points to solve the camera.
I can’t seem to find any tutorials and guides for tracking moving vehicles or objects when the background is not the thing you want to track, but you still need a proper 3D camera solve because the camera is moving.
Do I need to look at a different tracking software? Or is there a trick to getting this kind of track using the C4D tracker? Any help or guidance here would be really appreciated!
