I’m editing some footage in FCP and have been asked to add some bullet holes on to a moving hand held shot. Can this be done in FCP or do I need to use After FX?

Obviously I will need to track the bullet holes (psd files) to the footage of the wall they’re impacting on.
I have never done any kind of ‘tracking’ (is that the correct term?) and have no idea what plug in or software to use. Of course, it would need to be pixel perfect and the bullet holes must follow the motion path of the camera. I couldn’t find any reference elsewhere on the site. If someone could advise me it’d be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Hi Andrew,
You can do it in FC but you will need some 3d part plugin.
I think that Boris have a tracker.

    Motion has a tracker.

Motion has very good tracking and matchmoving. I would do it there.

Be aware that if you can’t do this in Motion, you’ll probably have to use something more specialized like Motor or Mocha from Imagineer.

Thanks guys, for all the tips. I will have a crack using motion and post how it went.
