I am not sure if this is even possible so I am looking for help from the experts.

What we want to do is shoot video in a High Res format (1080 or 4k) and a wide viewpoint of the stage. Then edit and export in 720 which allows us to crop the video so that the speaker is centered and it is zoomed in on them. My question is this. Is there a way to use the tracking feature to have the frame move as the speaker moves so it appears that the camera is actually tracking the speaker and the frame is always centered on them? I know we can do it manually, but is there a way for the software to track a specific image in the frame and move accordingly?

Essentially this plug in for FCP does what I am looking for. TrackX Powered by Mocha. The Track and Lock Down feature.
Is there any way to do this in Premiere? Even if I need to get a Plug in

    Thanks for the help

You need AE with motion tracking for this.

We have AE. Is there a tutorial somewhere that would show how to do this?

    Thanks!

You can do this in the Adobe AE bundled mocha AE or in mocha Pro, which is a stand alone application and has the ability to render stabilization on a focussed tracked area.

Is there a way to do this in DaVinci Resolve?

Hi Ross! I film single speakers onstage as they give presentations. They will often walk around the stage. Instead of hiring a second videographer or using something like a subject-tracking robot/tripod, I would like to set up a 4K camera (GH4) with the entire stage in the frame (probably 50 feet across). I’ve been looking for a way to automatically motion track the speaker in Premiere/AE/whatever so I can shoot in 4K, output to 1080, and have my (now cropped) footage appear to “follow” the speaker as if I were moving the actual camera myself. In looking at the Mocha website, I can’t seem to find this exact functionality. Can you possibly point me in the right direction? This would be an amazing time-saver in not having to keyframe every time the speaker moves. Thank you so much!

    Matt
