Track Motion / Pan Crop question
I’ve just started editing video of friend’s band. Used three cameras combined with multi-track audio recorded by another friend. Band would like a video wall with the remaining quarter used for stills of art work they have done. I’m at a beginners level. Appeciate any critique of my work flow, especially concerning my use of Track Motion and Pan Crop.
Here’s my work flow!
-Drop all video on time line.(bass, guitar and drums).
-Drop good audio(multitrack rendered down to stereo)on timeline.
-Sync ’em all up.(I’d made three hand claps at the start of each set)
-Delete camera audio tracks.
-Trim clips, then butt them all up to start of timelineSo far so good, until…
-Use Track Motion to move each track to their respective corners.
-Then use Pan Crop to properly frame subjects(pull them into safe areas and make aesthetically pleasing).From what I’ve read on forums I think Track Motion will reduce frame resolution to quarter then I’d be panning in on that. Not good. Yikes. Forgot i have to do color correction somewhere in there. I assume video effects are best used on full resolution frame.
Ok, questions…
-is there a way to move tracks to the four corners and pan in on each frame without Track Motion?-if I just use Pan Crop will video effects be on the full resolution frame or just the panned cropped rez.
Hope I’ve used the right terminology.

If you only use Track Motion for the positioning, you’re fine. It sounds like you’re doing it the correct way: Pan/Crop for zooming in to the desired area of the image and Track Motion to position the image.
