track motion help
Hi, was hoping to get some feedback on this issue I’m having with AE. My background is a dolly shot we shot of a beanfield. The dolly shot was relatively smooth but there was also a slight camera pan to it. The end footage is to see three robots in the beanfield with clipboards surveying the work done by the plows. I made the robots using a series of rectangles in illustator, bringing those files into AE in a comp then bringing that comp into the main comp so it could function as a whole body part when I applied a 3d axis rotation to it. there is a small robot near the horizon line, a medium robot half way and large robot at the front of the frame. I added a camera to project to be able to change the perspetive of the 3d robots. I read on some post the best way to understand camera movement for beginners was to link camera to null object and move the null object. I did tracking motion on the field footage and applied x and y to the null oject. However, the x and y changes to the null object did not correspond to a big enough change in the camera perspective so the robots did not move and same rate the ground behind them did. I didn’t know what else to do at that point to get fluid character movement to match my background so I went frame by frame an changed the null objects x, y and z coordinates to match the large robot (front of frame) with the ground he stood on. I’m happy with the results the dolly move for that one seems fluid and natural but the two robots behind are not inline. Part maybe because they are not in z positions relatively to what they would be if they were actually in the field. the medium and last robot also make the slight x y and z changes that the front robot does becuase it’s the camera position that is changing. the ground in the footage doesn’t move that much at the medium and far off distance. I started with the far away robot and every second moved the x y and z for his specific layers (2 in total)to align with a reference point on the beanfield footage. However there is still play in betweenthe seconds mainly y and x not z. Is there a short cut to stablizing the layers I don’t want to move as much or did I box myself in by using the null object linked to camera as my mode of perspective change for the 3d robots? Any help would be great.
