  • Track Matte not working in precomp with collapse transformations

Posted by Brad Magnus on January 15, 2013 at 3:32 am

I have mostly vector graphics precomped inside of my “Main” comp so I can easily scale and position said precomp. In the precomp, I have a track matte (the only way I can accomplish my animation). https://screencast.com/t/bLzQzr79ias

However in the Main comp, I have the collapse transformations switch clicked for scaling, the track matte doesn’t come through. https://screencast.com/t/lJa38TsSt

I’ve looked around and can’t find any reference to why this is or how to fix it, any suggestions? Thanks!

I did the same thing and their was no problem.

You can use Set Matte effect (Effects> Channel > Set Matte) instead.

Use an Eclipse Shape layer instead of a solid with oval mask as your matte layer.

I’ve experienced this more than once. No solution that I know of, other than bringing the affected layers to the main comp(and the hassle that this may take). It has to be a bug.

I just experienced a very similar issue. In this case I have an image sequence with an object buffer pass precomped with collapsed transformations. For some reason it just uses one frame of the object buffer pass to mask the layer, yet when I go inside the comp it acts normal. So outside of the precomp the matte doesn’t move, but inside it does.

Is it possible this is related to time remapping the precomp? I’ve since turned off time remapping with no effect, but it worked previous to me enabling it.
