Track FX & Multi Camera editing
Posted by Pete Locascio on January 3, 2011 at 12:39 amI’ve applied color correction to an entire track. When I enable multi camera editing, however, the preview window shows the the track with it’s original blue tint before I applied the Track FX. I’m obviously doing something wrong. How do I keep the corrections I made and still be able to create a multi camera track. I’m using Vegas Pro 9. Thanks.

January 3, 2011 at 2:47 amYou need to apply the FX to the clip while it’s still in the Project Media tab.
It’s OK to bring it to the timeline so that you can see what you’re doing but save any FX as a preset.
After you do this, delete the clip from the timeline, right-click on it in Project Media, select Media FX and apply the saved FX preset.
Now you can do your multicam edit without losing your colour correction. -

Alternately, just right-click on the event on the timeline and select Media FX… and do your color correcting right there. No need for saving presets and deleting FX.

July 3, 2011 at 11:50 pmHi Mike,
do I need to delete events in the timeline before applying presets to project media? I’ve done sync of all my three cams and two audio recorders and don’t want to loose it. I’ve tried to apply my saved presets to project media but it wouldn’t let me. Maybe that’s the reason why. However I was able to apply any of the filter packages supplied with Vegas 10?

July 4, 2011 at 12:04 amAndrew, it’s been a few years since I’ve done any multicam work and I can’t remember my exact workflow so I don’t want to give you advice that may prove to be incorrect.
John and other users here do this a lot more than I do so take their advice. -

No, you just need to remove the FX from the events and apply them at the media level. No need to remove the events.

What version of Vegas? Vegas Pro 10.0d has a bug that doesn’t allow presets to be applied to OFX plug-ins unless you drag from the browser which can’t be done for Media FX. Otherwise you should be able to apply presets from Sony plug-ins.

Vegas doesn’t supply any Filter Packages. You make those yourself (if you are really talking about “Filter Packages”).

July 4, 2011 at 2:58 pmHi John,
in this thread I was trying to make sure that I wasn’t making errors in the way I was applying the presets in a multicam project. We are already taking about a possible bug with presets in the other thread I’ve started.
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/932319And you’re right these filter packages didn’t come with Vegas, hey’re JMH presets that I’ve installed few years back.
Thank you John for your help and I’ll answer your questions in the other thread.Andrew
