I’m trying to make a stream of particles travel along a spline, which is a helix spline, and I’ve tried using the TP preset for that. It works, but the particles only appear on the spline and are stationary. I can’t find a way to make them move along the spline. I don’t want to move the emitter and have it lay down a trail of particles, I need to have a stream move down the spline as if going through a tube. I’ve looked into the Xpresso tag, and it’s incredibly complicated; I can’t find a way to put in a speed for the particles to move. How can I do this?

Also, the stream will be moving through a helix shaped pipe that will actually be a half-pipe so you can see the particles in it, and I would like the particles to stay within the pipe. Can I make the pipe a collision object for the particles so they don’t stray out of it?

And…one more question. Is there a way to have the particles move along the spline, but not ON the spline, but sort of clustering around it in a random fashion, so as to fill up the pipe?

I am not good with Xpresso; I can do some basic things, but the more complicated stuff escapes me. I am using version 11 on OS 10.5.7 (Mac). I do have MoGraph, if that’s helpful, but I haven’t used it all that much yet.

    thanks,

    Jack
