  • Toyota Trucks type Logo smash in After Effects

    Hi!

I searched for an example for a bit, but couldn’t find one, so I’m looking for someone who’s seen the commercial for Toyota Trucks. At the very end, the logo smashes on the screen and bumps around a few times looking like it actually fell. A small dust cloud also shows up. I’d like to know how to do this with my own logo!

    Thanks!!!!

Can you post a link to the commercial so we can see what you’re talking about?

I looked for it, but I can’t find it. Basically i want something to fall from the sky and hit the ground with a thud and a burst of dust, as naturally as a logo falling from the sky can look

If your original shot is not locked down, you’ll need to track the shot first. You can use a separate 3D application (or a plugin like Zaxwerks Invigorator Pro) to extrude or re-model your logo in true 3D. Keyframe the fall and landing (perhaps adding a little bit of camera shake at the moment of impact). Reproducing the practical lighting as closely as you can with the virtual logo will help sell the composite.

Use a particle system like CC Particle World or Trapcode Particular to simulate dust.
