Toronto auto show
Posted by George Socka on February 25, 2006 at 1:30 amThought I would start by asking here:
Who supplied the LED screen for the Ford exhibit? How much per day? Is that thing video resolution? or higher? What served the content? How heavy is it if it had to be flown in a theater?

March 1, 2006 at 11:25 pmDefinitely provided by either XL Video or Creative Technologies. Most likely some O-Lite 6mm and probably some O-Lite 3mm, both from Barco. Content most likely served via Doremi V1HD using Barco Encore for source blending and stitching.
Way beyond HD res and aspect when taken together. Only way to do that is with Encore, Vista Montage (or Spyder), and perhaps 2 or 3 other things (blended Hippotiser HD, Watchout, or Wings Platinum).
EXTREMELY heavy. No way you’re flying that stuff in a theatre without lots of chain motors, or similiar automated flying system (schonberg, Scenic Technologies winches, etc). VERY expensive. Depending on size you need, probably between 30k and 100k a week.
We’ve got a ton of Barco O-Lite 6mm on Sinatra at the London Palladium, and also a bunch out with Nickelback right now. Good stuff.
John Wiseman at XL Video’s LA office could get specific info for you:

July 26, 2006 at 6:01 pmNot sure if this ever got solved but,
My guess would be MVI- Multivision Inc. in North York
They do lots of video walls in Toronto.
Not sure which one was at the auto show.]
As for the hanging, it totally depends on the points you have to hang it from. How much weight can the points hold?
I have dealt with MVI before and they are quite helpfull.
They may be able to do a site inspection.
They may come up with a different/better solution.J Spants
