I have been following the Creative Cow tutorial on Tornado Text (podcast on May 10, 2008) pretty much exactly as Eran Stern has done it. Everything has gone well, EXCEPT for the fact that the text towards the bottom of the spiral is 90 degrees to the 3D “floor” I created (as it should be), but the text towards the top of the spiral is at 0 degrees to the floor (not how it’s supposed to be). In other words, it’s as if somehow the per-character angle has been spatially keyframed so that the letters are oriented 90 degrees at the bottom and then gradually orient themselves towards 0 degrees at the top. It looks really weird and NOT what I am after. Any ideas as to what I’ve done wrong? I’m really hoping this isn’t yet another Adobe bug present on Mac versions!

I’m not sure I understand, Can you please send the project or add a link to a screen shot?

Unfortunately I didn’t save the After Effects Project with the “faulty” tornado text because I was just trying it out. But I retried the tornado text today, and it’s working exactly the way you did it. That is, all letters are at 90 degrees at all times. If I ever encounter the other problem again, I will post a screen shot. Thanks.
