    Hy Guys

Need help here. ! I am working with Sony Vegas 12 Pro I have been using this software for about 6 months now after upgrading from Movie studio 11 , I have also upgraded to a new computer following a build from the (Video guys ) So ! I am using a NVIDIA HD (GEFORCE GTX 670 ) graphics card and a Intel 3820 quad core processor 10Mb using Windows 7 64 bit.

One of my biggest problems that I have is the preview this will lag even in draft mode on a single cross fade with no other effects yet added, I searched all over and tried different setting and this has become so frustrating so can anyone out the help me .
Here are the settings on my video tab in preferences.

Dynamic Ram preview 2000 Max available 31687 mb
    Rendering threads 16
GPU acceleration Nvidia ( Gforce GTX )
Thumbnails in video events ( All )
External video capture application (checked )
Video preview display 10% in all four boxes
Simulate device aspect ratio (checked )
    In my Preview device tab
I am using Windows graphic card and there is choice of using.
    AJA video device
    Black magic design
    OHCI
In the project I’m working on now is AVI that I converted to WMV thinking this might be the easiest playback on windows . But most of my projects are MOV files using my Canon T4I that I bring into Cineform to reduce the size a bit.
So what are your recommendations to solve this preview problem .
    Thanks

[Brian Killeen] “In the project I’m working on now is AVI that I converted to WMV thinking this might be the easiest playback on windows.”

Never edit WMV files. They are a highly compressed delivery format and not ideal for editing.

Stick with CineForm. Make sure that you project properties match your source video properties. Try turning off GPU Acceleration in the Video Preferences. Your GTX 670 card is not being fully utilized and your playback might actually be better by not using it.

Hey thanks John for getting back to me it does work better, I was wondering also i am using 60 fps and 24 fps in this video i not sure if match property setting is the right way . I guess i should render each part of the video and recombine them to render better ?

Obviously, you can’t have it both ways so you should set your project to the footage you have the most of. It it’s about the same amount for both then rendering one of them to the other format is certainly an option.

    Ok
I was not sure I have to re-shoot this very small ending scene where this person is walking away and i want to slow this right down and add just a little bit off dust particles to that scene, so I am not sure if I should even go with 60fps or stay with the 24 fps this will be a first for me and i am looking to do this with twixor or not sure if Vegas could this for me. My sequence for achieving this clip in the video was to import the MOV fil to cineform to reduce it and here is where i am not sure how to proceed , do i color correct and add the effects and render it to a different file an re-introduce it back to my time line . or just nest all the different sequences of my music video and macth up the audio after.

    Thanks again.

If you shot in 60p with the intention of slowing it down but your main footage is in 24p then your Vegas Pro project should be in 24p. You would then slow the 60p down as needed to get the desired slow motion affect.

I have never used Twixtor so I don’t know how it works but I’m sure it will know that it has 60 fps to work with and deal with it appropriately. I would not alter the 60p footage at all. Just feed it directly to Twixtor so it can do it’s magic.
