February 1, 2009 at 12:54 amSomething isn’t right. The world/object coordinates button is switching back and forth but the orientation of the object dose not change. no matter what I try I can only move things with the object orientation.

March 26, 2009 at 5:33 amI have the same problem and have been wondering if I’m doing something wrong or if this is just a bug on Mac. Anyone know for sure?

October 29, 2009 at 7:10 pmYeah, I’m having the same problem using r10. Could it be a version thing?
Also when I select the move or selection tool, in the attributes window all the options are greyed out. -

December 23, 2009 at 11:08 pmI finally got it sorted out – page 8 in the quickstart PDF for r11.5
Basically it doesn’t work like in Maya for example.
With an object thats axis has been rotated:
Switch to World orientation and lock the X and Z axis (for example), now click OUTSIDE the object and drag. The object will move only in the world Y axis, ie up.
Switch between World and Object axis to notice the difference.
