I finished a 4K project using proxies and encoded it. Only after I erased everything did I realize that before encoding I had forgotten to toggle the proxies icon back to 4K. In other words the icon was still blue when I sent it to Encoder. My question is What did I make? A proper 4K clip or a 4K clip from 720p proxies (and therefore a fool of myself)?

    Thanks,
    Vasco

    Exports shouldn’t use proxies.

I thought so too but on one tutorial a guy said you should turn off the Toggle proxies icon. I didn’t, hence my question.

The toggle proxies button makes no difference to exporting. Full res is always used (as long as it’s online).

You mean where it says: • When you render Previews, Export Media or use certain Analysis effects (Warp Stabilizer, Rolling Shutter Repair, Morph Cut), Premiere Pro always uses and displays Full Res, regardless of the Toggle/Enable Proxies setting. The only exception is when you have Offline Full Res, but Proxy is Online, then Proxy is used.

I read it but like I wrote earlier… there was this tutorial… Anyway, my question was answered. Thank you.

Thank you very much! What a relief.
