You can toggle the visibility of all layer controls—which includes mask and shape paths—by pressing Ctrl+Shift+H (Windows) or Command+Shift+H (Mac OS).

For more information, see “Show or hide layer controls in the Composition panel”. If the Help document doesn’t contain the information that you need, or if you’d like to add a tip of your own, leave a comment using the link at the bottom of any Help page.

Oh boy!! We are already in 2013!! Sorry to pickup this old thread. Hope you guys don’t bother at all!
This shortcut just works on a Composition. Is there a way to toggle the masks visibility on a layer view?
    TIA

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+V to toggle a layer’s visibility (the eyeball) on or off — hope this helps!

I have After Effect CC version 13.5.1.48. Not sure if this is still a bug in the latest version, but when I toggle the Mask and Shape Path Visibility to ON, then try clicking it OFF, the paths don’t hide. Except, when I use the shortcut Command+Shift+H (Mac OS), it works for both ON and OFF.

I guess I’ll try updating and see if adobe has fixed this issue. Or I can just remember the shortcut keys 🙂
