  • Toast 6.0 DVD issues, related to FCP???

Hi, had fabulous results from you guys in the past, thought you’d be able to help me in a sinch with this one.
I have being having jerky staggery issues with Toast 6.0 in burning a PAL DVD.
When I drag a piece of DVPAL footage straight from my capture scratch folder into toast to create a DVD I have no problem with the encode and burn. Great pictures.
However when I import that footage into FCP HD and edit a little then export it out under Quicktime conversion with DVPAL compression and then drag that file into Toast 6.0, that’s when I get those frustrating staggers, particularly on the zooms and pans.
    What I’ve tried:
    Changing the quality of media
    Disconnected the internet.
    Turned off anti virus software
Loaded the software on a new computer (same outcome)

It seems that the glitch is in FCP??? But I’m not sure, any step by step approaches is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andrew

[Andrew] “export it out under Quicktime conversion with DVPAL compression”

I’m not sure what you’re doing on export, but you should not be recompressing (“converting”) the FCP timeline if you have edited in the DV format.

All you need to do is, in FCP, choose:

    File > Export > Quicktime Movie… > Current Settings > Audio & Video > Markers (if any) > Save.
Do not check the “make self-contained.”

After the export, drop that file onto an open iDVD menu.

(Or in your case, out it into Toast).

Customize the menu(s) if you want (you can in iDVD, anyway).

    Burn the DVD.

    That’s about it.
