    Hey All!

If you’re like me and you’ve been trying to use your MXO2 LE Max as a monitoring solution with PPro 5.5 only to be frustrated by sync issues, sluggish timelines and random, inexplicable crashes, there is a light at the end of that long tunnel we’ve been living in.

After a long heartfelt letter to Matrox expressing my disappointment with the product, Matrox saw fit to add me to the beta testing team and offered their latest build. Much to my amazement and surprise, this thing actually works and works well! I’ve been busting away on a couple promo videos for two days now and I am happy to say that they are well on there way to releasing a very stable, frame accurate editing and monitoring solution! What a difference!

I have no idea when they are planning to release the next build, but I can tell you that what they have now is running circles around the previous drivers and the pesky frame skipping and inaccurate sync between viewer window and HDMI monitoring are history. I can’t imagine it will be long.

If you’re a frustrated MXO2 user like I was, hang tight, help is indeed on the way!

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the feedback, though probably better placed in the Cow’s Matrox forum. Are you working on the Mac or PC? I use MXO2 on the PC, and we also have sold tons of MXO2 units and turnkey PC workstations with MXO2, and are not getting the complaints you mention, so I assume we’re talking Mac here?

    Thanks

    Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the info, I didn’t realize that there was an actual Matrox board here.

And yes, all Macs here. MXO works great with FCP but was a disaster in PPro. HDMI and audio output would lag about 6frames behind the Source/Program windows making it impossible to do anything frame accurately, and random timeline output freezes would require a full reboot. Not fun.. Apparently Matrox aren’t the only ones having difficulty with PPro on Mac. Since CS5.5, AJA and Blackmagic have been experiencing the same type of thing.

So no problems ar all in CS5.5 with MXO2LE output?

Sorry to add my thoughts late on this…this is very good news!

Yes, I’m on a PC, and I experience a fair amount of sluggishness/responsiveness when editing. I move often back and forth between HD to SD projects, and I always assumed this contributed to the MXO2 LE Max losing its mind occasionally.

Just this morning, I booted up to a SD 16:9 project only to have the Matrox box not display the image to my Vizio monitor for the longest time…finally jumped to another sequence and it “woke up.”
