  • Titles stretched after render, and in playback, but not on export

What could be causing this? I have a video sequence, created a new title, and dragged it into the timeline. When scrubbing, it appears as it should. When the playhead is stopped in the timeline, the title appears stretched. After render, even scrubbing shows it as stretched. I exported a clip, and the title is fine. So it’s something going on with the preview. Is this a bug, or some kind of setting?

I am working in CS6, on a Mac, with 1440×1080 anamorphic HDV. Thanks!

Right click on your asset, Modify, Interpret Footage and make sure both your title and video footage are of the same pixel aspect ratio.

My guess is that your sequence preview file type is a square pixel format (likely the default mpeg) and it’s causing the issue. I saw this a long time ago in like cs6 but almost never work in non square pixel timelines so forgot about it.

Btw, to fix, I copied and pasted my sequence into a new square pixel 1920×1080 sequence and that issue went away. But if you aren’t using previews for renders, it’s just a weird thing to look at while editing, disconcerting as it is.
